Trailblazer Team hit up the trails on a rainy day for a long trek out to Porter Mt loops at Mt. Van Hoevenberg!

Advanced Ski Technique Clinic January 11

NYSEF Nordic will host an Advanced Ski Technique Clinic at ORDA's Mt. Van Hoevenberg on Sunday January 11 from 12-2 PM. Both skating and classic techniques will be covered. This will be a great technique tune-up for the Lake Placid Loppet! $25 and proceeds will benefit NYSEF Nordic. Participants must purchase a trail pass if they plan on skiing before or after the clinic.

NYSEF XC takes top spots at the first Mid-Atlantic JOQ

Elizabeth Izzo (Lake Placid) and Charlie Bencze (Tupper Lake) lead the NYSEF XC team at the first Mid-Atlantic Junior Olympic Qualifier in Osceola on 12/20 with victories in the 6.6 km freestyle event.

Sunday's Season Opener race is on! Cross-Country side.
Race registration will stay open until 6 PM on Friday.

5km all J2, 10 km all J1/OJ/Sr/Masters.
Race distances may be shortened depending on snow conditions.
8:30-9:45 AM bib pick-up at XC Main Lodge
8:30-9:30 day of race registration at XC Main Lodge
(please leave enough time if you plan on registering on Sunday)
10:30 AM Start, mass start by age group

Freestyle BKL kids race to follow.
BKL race registration 11:30-12 noon. 12 noon start.
$5 entry fee, day of race registration only.
Lollipop 1/2 km, J5 1 km, J4 2 km, J3 3km.

Thursday practice

There will be Trailblazer and Comp Team practices today (Thursday) at MVH. It may be a little icy and ungroomed since Tuesday, but we can at least ski mini-loop, bring old skis.

NYSEF Nordic Coaches Clinic

NYSEF Nordic will host a coaches clinic on Dec. 13 at Mt. Van Hoevenberg from 9:30-4. Technique portions of the clinic presented by Margaret Maher will be "USST approved" for the new USSA Level 100 coaches certification. All participants must be members of NYSSRA and purchase a trail pass to MVH for the day ($8 for the clinic). Clinic is ideal for BKL, high school and new coaches.
