Eastern High School Championships

Eastern High School Championships finished out the 2011/12 race season for NYSEF XC. The events were hosted at Mountain Top Inn & Resort in Chittenden, VT. Temps hovered in the 60s, with lots of sunshine and blue skis. This lead to racing on a 1.6 km manmade loop, which held up nicely for the 219 athletes competing.

Nina Armstrong had break through performances, finishing 6th in the 4.8 km freestyle race and grabbing 10th place in the 1.6 km freestyle sprint. After the weekend of races, Nina claimed 10th overall on Individual Standings - pretty awesome for a 9th grader!

Maile Sapp threw down a fast time to place 7th in the freestyle sprint, with teammate Maeve Peabody in 24th.

Freestyle 4.8 km results: Nina 7th, Maile 68th, Maeve 85th, Amelia 101st, Emma 111th

BLAST FROM THE PAST INTO THE FUTURE…ON SKIS!

Coach Alex, Karl, Royal, Scott, Aiden and Chris made the trek over to Great Glens Trails in Pinkhom Notch, NH for the 2012 New England Bill Koch Festival! This year's theme was "BLAST FROM THE PAST INTO THE FUTURE…ON SKIS!" and a blast the boys had.

Saturday's weather tested Coach Goff's waxing skills for the classic relay race. The boys had great skis in tricky waxing conditions. Karl, Royal and Henry skied fast for 2nd place in the 7/8th grade boys race. Scott paired up with Lauchie Cheney-Seymour (DMYSL) to finish 6th in the 5/6th grade boys race. The team of Chris and Aiden finished 28th.

The NYSEF boys put the hammer down in the individual skate race and posted fast times. Karl finished 2nd, Royal 4th and Henry 20th in the 7/8th grade boys race - very impressive results in a competitive field! Scott showed his Nordic Combined skating skills and cruised through the 3km course to finish 6th. Teammates Chris and Aiden followed in 51st and 63rd, respectively. Congratulations to all! Nice skiing boys!
